Commissioned to GO 🇺🇸→🇰🇷

In the summer of 2021, I was praying about a job offer I received before my last semester of college. Unexpectedly while praying, I felt the Lord so clearly invite me to be commissioned to South Korea to be a full-time missionary for 3 years instead. I’ve had a heart for Korea since 2018 so it was an easy yes! I fully moved out in June 2022 and plan to remain until 2025.

With radical faith, I believe God wants to EKBALLO (Greek for hurl forth) laborers from and to the harvest field of Korea! I believe God is raising up young Koreans to go to every sphere of society and nation for the gospel! I believe God wants to raise up a reunified nation that is one in Christ Jesus and use both North & South Koreans for the great end-time harvest!

IT’S TIME FOR A YOUTH MISSIONS MOVEMENT IN KOREA AGAIN.

Here’s a snapshot of what I’ve been up to in Korea!

At Inje University with an outreach team from YWAM Kona Awaken DTS, we started weekly prayer meetings in collaboration with a local pastor. A professor gave his life to Jesus at one of these meetings and is now running for college president to change the spiritual atmosphere of the campus (it was influenced by Buddhism).

I also found out, my grandfather served as the vice president of this university! As a neurosurgeon, he built up the university hospital from the ground up that even the freshmen knew his name today.

I had prayed in 2018 that God would use me to finish my ancestors’ unfinished callings in Korea—God is so GOOD.

One of our local friends who lost everything due to a natural disaster decided to commit suicide. However, JESUS intervened. He got baptized in water and the Holy Spirit that day and committed to following Jesus!

On our way to a woman’s gathering in an Armenian neighborhood, we saw a woman sweeping in her house and invited her to come with us. She immediately dropped everything and came with us to the meeting!

There, she confessed with tears that after losing her mom, she was so lonely and prayed just the day before for God to help her (she was Catholic). She was undone at the goodness of God who answered her prayers right away.

The Holy Spirit broke out and the meeting went 3 hours over while we prayed for every single woman. There were 5 SALVATIONS in total that day!

Before treasure hunt evangelism with an outreach team from YWAM Kona Awaken DTS at Inje University, we prayed about who God wanted us to meet. Upon praying, I saw a picture of a woman with glasses sitting alone in the library. When we went to the campus library, she was actually there! While talking to her, we found out she wasn’t Christian but her brother was. We suggested to her that he was praying for her to get saved & that’s why God put it on our hearts for us to meet her that day! We got to pray for her right there in the library & share the love of Jesus & she had tears in her eyes! The harvest is ripe on college campuses in Korea!

While getting ready to go to a coffee shop in town, I had a strong impression on my heart that I needed to go to another local coffee shop 10 minutes away from my house and tell the barista there about Jesus. So I went and after ordering my drink, I struck up a conversation and said, “Hey, this is so random—I was going to go to Ediya today but I felt Jesus tell me to come here and tell you that he loves you.” To my great surprise, tears immediately started rolling down her cheeks. She was a Christian but hadn’t been going to church. That day, I was able to pray for her and open up the Bible with her! Afterwards, we continued to stay connected and she would message me her prayer requests.

The week before, the receptionist at my pilates class, also a Christian who wasn’t going to church, cried upon hearing about me and my friends’ story in missions and wanted to connect with our church. Our community was so encouraged to hear how God was moving in our little town!

During a Brave Love gathering, a young woman in her 20s got on the mic & confessed that she was raped when she was 15 & could never tell anyone because of shame. But at this gathering, she felt God speak to her to share her testimony & be a messenger of the gospel!

At a high school in Gunsan, 35 students gave their lives to Jesus!

I was able to spontaneously share at a gathering that the harvest is ripe in Korea & pray for the impartation of faith. A young woman confessed that until the day before, she had told her friends that people in Korea don’t want the gospel. But she felt the conviction of God that the reason people leave the church is because Christians don’t live like Jesus. She then committed to sharing with others the love of Jesus!

Earlier in April, I had a dream that for Brave Love, one of our outreach locations was Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea. During our tour stops, we saw God spontaneously drop hearts for North Korea to the women!

A church in Daegu that had primarily been doing house of prayer ministry felt God call them to missions but didn’t know how to take the first step. Through mutual connections, they got connected to our church & invited us to share at their church about missions! I was able to share my story in missions with 20-30 young adults & the night ended with commissioning & Holy Spirit ministry—so many tears! They then committed to joining our outreach to Africa!

While praying for healing for a young woman with an outreach team from Dunamis Greenhouse Brazil, she said she felt the crooked bones in the bottom area of her spine straighten out! Earlier in the day, God had showed me a mental picture of a spine straightening out and I felt we would see scoliosis be healed! Praise God—there were 43 healings that day at that church!

39 of us from our church—19 children!—went to Chiang Mai for outreach. For half, it was their first time on missions & the youth absolutely went off. They shared prophetic words & prayed for healing with tears. Their parents said they’ve never seen them do that before! More than the salvations of local Thai villagers, I was touched by God’s heart to see family on mission and use Korean youth on the mission field.

I also had the opportunity to preach at a service there & afterwards, we saw God break out in healing for the whole church—most of them new believers!

Before evangelism with staff from YWAM Kona Rising DTS, I prayed on the subway about who was on God’s heart for me to meet that day. Immediately, I saw a picture of a young girl with a broken heart. And while evangelizing with my friend on Haeundae Beach, we met a woman from Switzerland (everyone before had rejected us haha) and found out she had just broken up with her boyfriend and was recovering from that relationship. We got to pray for her and she started crying! She was an unbeliever and had never heard the gospel so we were able to share the gospel with her and love on her that day!

From my heart... thank you for being with me in the mission.

Your financial support, messages of encouragements, prayers and hearts encouraged me beyond words this past year and 4 months in Korea. I remember specific moments when I asked my friends to pray and I would be overwhelmed with responses from friends I’ve known for years or just days. I know you must all be busy and for some of you, Korea is a completely foreign nation, but I want to thank you from my heart for choosing to be with me in the mission and pointing me to Jesus. YOU ARE AMAZING!!!

I also want to thank you for how your prayers have impacted Korea! I hope you’re encouraged by seeing all the fruit that has come because it’s fruit from YOUR life too! As we look at what the Lord has done, I hope you’re spurred on towards good deeds by the God who does more than what we can ask, think or imagine and are freshly encouraged to keep running the race for Him. He is coming soon and He wants to show His glory through you—HALLELUJAH!
